Cooking crab doesn’t have to be complicated. Whip up this devilled crab dish from Geoff Morton of Fatbelly Fred’s for a simple sharing starter next time you’re entertaining

Devilled crab

Serves 2

You will need

Fresh white crab meat 150g, cooked
Double cream 75ml
English mustard 1/2 tsp
Cayenne pepper 1/3 tsp
Salt a pinch
Freshly baked bread a couple slices


  1. Add all the ingredients except for the bread to the pan. Bring to a simmer, stir and reduce the heat.
  2. Grill the bread until crisp and serve with the warm crab mixture.

Chef’s tip: ‘If you like, you can add extra cayenne to increase the heat but make sure to cook it out,’ says Geoff
