Listen up foodies: whether you’re into cooking or more of a taste-tester, a cookbook hoarder or an aspiring restaurateur, this winter Fifteen Cornwall is hosting a series of events for every kind of food fan (and you’re invited)
Throughout November, some of Cornwall’s top food and drink producers will team up with Fifteen Cornwall for its first ever Eat Up series of dinners, masterclasses and interactive sessions. Profits from the events will go towards The Cornwall Food Foundation, the charity behind the restaurant which funds community projects and creates employment opportunities in the county.
Here’s a taste of what will be going down at Watergate Bay this month …
Peboryon cake baking masterclass: November 18
Take your baking skills up a notch (or three) at this hands-on demo from the duo behind Peboryon Cakes. Christine and Phil Jenson (who appeared on Channel 4’s Extreme Cake Makers) will share their insider knowledge and recipe-for-success tips, along with stories from their adventures in the industry. The session includes plenty of cake tasters (natch), plus a glass of prosecco.
£28 per person.
Meet the media: November 25
Gaining media exposure can make or break a start-up and learning how to navigate this is a huge factor for any growing business. Fifteen Cornwall has curated a panel of media experts (including Laura Rowe of Olive Magazine, Lisa Markwell of The Sunday Times and Code Magazine and Fiona Beckett of Decanter and The Guardian) to give guests the opportunity to ask questions and glean insights into the way the food media works.

Chocolate tasting with Rio Nuevo: November 26
Chocolate fans will want to secure a ticket to this tasting session with pro chocolatiers Sara and Andres of Rio Nuevo in Penryn. The company has established a direct trade relationship with farmers in Ecuador and work to improve the lives of cocoa farmers in the production of their Cornish bars. Participants will learn about the dos and don’ts of chocolate sampling before diving into a tasting session of five varieties.
£20 per person.
Pasta Perfecto with Gennaro Contaldo: November 28
The grand finale of the Eat Up events will see Gennaro Contaldo (patron saint of pasta and mentor to Jamie Oliver) host an exclusive dinner with the team at Fifteen. Diners will be treated to dishes from Gennaro’s new book, prepared by head chef Adam Banks and the skilled team at Fifteen. Included in the ticket price is a copy of the new book, Pasta Perfecto, which can be signed during the evening.
