Cutting his teeth under Albert Roux and Michael Caines, Andy Britton brings an impressive set of cooking credentials to his new role as head chef at Howard’s House Hotel in Wiltshire
When long-standing chef Nick Wentworth left the Nadder Valley country house, it was only natural that a chef with a similar passion for seasonal ingredients and local provenance took over the pass. The independently-owned hotel and restaurant has pruned a reputation for exquisite dining over its quarter century history, one which Andy plans to uphold – and expand – with his field-to-fork food philosophy.
Previously impressing diners at Warminster’s Bishopstrow House and MacDonald Bath Spa, the seasoned chef specialises in contemporary spins on British classics. Though, if you’re after something different, he’s always open to suggestions.
‘I love to chat to guests and find out which combinations they enjoy most,’ says Andy. ‘I’m keen to get to know the locals and always happy to source special requests when possible.’
With a kitchen garden in the grounds, Andy won’t have any trouble picking up impeccably fresh ingredients for his daily dishes and six course tasting menus. New dining developments are in the pipeline too, look out for regular Howard’s House dining club dates where Andy plans to wow like-minded foodies with a surprise tasting menu to be revealed at the table.
