Foodie pub for beer lovers on the Cornish coast
Located in the beautiful Trevaunance Cove in St. Agnes (aka Poldark country) you can expect a warm and friendly welcome at Driftwood Spars whatever the time of year.
The 17th century building has been a B&B and public house for many years. The name hints at its local history – the ceiling beams in the bars contain spars from some of the ships that have been wrecked on Trevaunance Cove, the local beach.
Driftwood Spars offers four-star guest accommodation (AA) with 15 bedrooms, three cosy bars (all with wood burning stoves), two beer gardens, its own on-site brewery, and a takeaway fish and chip shop ‘Lewsey Lou’s’. All of which welcome dogs, with refined dining reserved for the Seaview dining in summer.
Beer lovers will enjoy the interesting amber offerings, with brews from the inhouse microbrewery supplemented by a strong range from further afield. The brewery’s real ale was even named CAMRA Kernow pub of the year 2009 and there’s a Driftwood beer festival twice a year in March and May.
A much loved and integral part of the local community, The Driftwood Spars hosts lots of popular local events across the year including an open mic night on the first and third Sundays of every month, an annual fancy dress party on New Year’s Eve, fireworks on Bonfire Night and plays a key part in the frosty Christmas Day swim at Trevaunance Cove.
St. Agnes is a vibrant village with a strong local community. It used to produce the best tin in the world (according to local legend) and has been named a World Heritage site. The walking is stunning in and around the area; we are located just off the Southwest Coastal Path.
