Relaxed dining by the sea in Sidmouth
In the middle of Sidmouth’s esplanade with a patio overlooking the sea, Dukes is an inviting spot close to the town centre.
Serving relaxed, informal food, head chef Ian Middleton runs a busy kitchen, baking all the restaurant’s scones and cakes in-house and crafting a menu that lets the quality of the local produce, fresh fish, meat and game shine.
Keep an eye on the daily changing specials menu for Ian’s latest creations. Diners can enjoy a cosy lunch or a good old blow-out of a dinner served in the bar, restaurant or the seafacing patio garden – an idyllic setting for a light summer lunch or evening sundowner.
The bar offers ales from the West Country, Luscombe juices, Sandford Orchards and Annings cider and wines hand-picked from the best of Europe and the New World.
If one day isn’t enough, you can stay the night in Dukes’ selection of rooms from cosy singles to large family rooms, which are all individual, warm and inviting (many with stunning sea views).
Toasted English crumpet, topped with caramelised red onions and goat’s cheese, wild rocket, £6.50

Right on the Jurassic Coast, Dukes is a perfect stop for lunch or an overnight stay while walking the World Heritage coast. Drop in on Tuesdays for fish and chips night – a Sidmouth institution.
