Newquay’s hidden gem
This popular establishment has a rather unique selling point – it’s set on its very own private beach. Lusty Glaze Beach, on the outskirts of Newquay, is a bar and restaurant, event and wedding venue situated down 133 steps directly on the sunny sands of one of Cornwall’s most secluded beaches.
With unrivalled views across the cove and out to sea, the terrace is the place to be watch the sun go down with something cheeky from the cocktail menu. Toasty log burners and an enclosed seating area means the vantage can be enjoyed all-year-round, and you can always head indoors on blowy days to be close to the woodburner with a cosy coffee or indulgent hot chocolate if you’d rather.
The laid-back, relaxed dining style of Lusty Glaze Beach encompasses lazy lunches, seaside suppers and family-friendly Sunday roasts, as head chef Nat Tallents – a former contestant on BBC’s MasterChef The Professionals – uses fresh, seasonal and locally sourced produce to create memorable menus that do the scenic setting proud.
You can expect the likes of baked king scallops with puff pastry, ginger, spring onion and sesame to start, chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella, roasted pepper and pesto tagliatelle to follow and a marmalade crème brûlée with chocolate shortbread to round things off.
Those that are looking for a special culinary treat should look out for the regular Secret Supper Clubs hosted, cooked and created by the head chef. Open to a mere dozen diners each time, all of whom sit round the same table, Nat serves a seven course tasting menu with a different theme each month, only revealed to visitors on the night itself.
Lusty Glaze Beach isn’t just about food and drink. The beach venue holds its own on the music front with an all-year-round live music session every week, plus many special outdoor music themed events throughout the summer months.
Not your regular beach-side eatery, Lusty Glaze Beach is a favourite spot for intimate family occasions, lavish weddings and one-of-a-kind parties. The team are pros at organising special events (think dreamy proposals and surprise celebrations) and cater to everyone’s needs to make Lusty Glaze Beach feel like a home from home.
