Something for everyone on Cornwall’s longest wine list
Roll back ten years and the local off-license was the height of spirited sophistication in the seaside town of Bude. Convenient? Yes. Characterful? Unfortunately not. The popular Cornish weekend spot was in desperate need of a well-stocked wine shop.
Luckily for Bude’s vino votaries, Oliver and Renate Tullett acquired the aforementioned offie in 2009 with visions of a refined tipple stop. Fast forward eight years and North Coast Wine has matured into an accomplished wine merchant, earning a reputation for stocking only exclusive, bespoke and artisan producers.
Outgrowing its original home, the wine bar and shop relocated to a roomier spot on Lansdown Road in 2015, meaning more space for its corked collection, plus a sun-kissed seating area to sample new finds.
Over 600 different wines and spirits – including a hefty collection of gins – line the new shelves, with a bunch of knowledgeable gurus on hand with tips and suggestions for your next glass if you so need.
Expanding beyond its bottle shop beginnings, 1920s inspired cocktails and roasted-down-the-road coffee are sold alongside rare reds and lip-smacking sauvignons at this new wave wine shop.
