South Coast Roast

Laid-back coffee venue in the centre of Bournemouth

The little sister to Bournemouth coffee pioneer Boscanova, South Coast Roast is a serious coffee haven, right in the centre of town. It has all the character and laid-back charm of Boscanova, but in a more pared-back, geeky kind of way. It’s where the Boscanova baristas train and a large, communal central table makes it a cupping paradise.

Pop in, join in, or simply chill out and watch the shoppers go by. High ceilings, coffee sacks, LPs, artwork and bicycles – there’s always something to catch the eye. The simple menu of fast fresh food – prepared at Boscanova and carried over – completes a lovely coffee break experience.

The team uses a variety of roasters from the UK and abroad, and serves espresso with milk and a roasting brew option, as well as a variety of single cup brews. Although it can get busy – especially at lunchtimes – it’s a calming antidote to modern life, with smiling staff who always find time for coffee chat.

Insider’s tips
