Mediterranean-inspired dining beside the sea in Padstow
St Petroc’s is an informal, modern bistro in the heart of the seaside village of Padstow.
Inside, the atmosphere is bustling and lively where bold, modern paintings brighten the white walls of the bistro. There is a courtyard and pretty garden for alfresco eating albeit with parasols and patio heaters to compensate for the variable weather. There’s also an inviting bar and lounge – perfect for drinks before or after a fabulous meal.
The food is strongly influenced by Rick Stein’s Mediterranean travels, so expect to find dishes on the menu such as baked scallops with pimentón, serrano ham and crisp garlic and olive oil crumbs.
If you’re visiting with a four-legged friend in tow, they’re welcome to join you in the bar or the courtyard.
The restaurant’s relaxed feel is echoed in St Petroc’s comfortable guest bedrooms, with decorative fireplaces, four poster beds and views over the Camel Estuary in some rooms.
Stir fried squid with chorizo, chilli, red pepper and potatoes, £8.50
8oz bavette (28 day dried aged Scottish Highland beef), £19
Sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream, £6.75
Most people know Rick for his love of seafood cookery but St Petroc’s also has a fantastic grill section, including a 30 day dry aged 14oz Sirloin on the bone from South Devon and a selection of Scottish Highland steaks, well-known for being tender, succulent and full of flavour.
