A story of craft cider revolution, with a slice of pizza on the side
The Stable Pizza loves cider. It’s in their very bones.
Since opening their first stable and cider bar at the back of The Bull Hotel in Dorset back in 2009, The Stable has become the South West’s fave hip hangout for a glass of the apple-y stuff and a thin slice.
Having taken the region by storm, the team has opened joints across Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset and Gloucestershire, so that cider stalwarts and the newly converted can track down a pint of beautifully crafted nectar across the whole of the South West.
Not that a pint is the only way to go, as their tasting boards of five third-pints of seasonal cider variations – artfully ranging from cheek-suckingly sharp to lusciously sweet, and chosen by their cider masters – are a fun way to find out where your tastes truly lie.
As for the pizza, it’s all about the artisan, thin and crispy variety here, whacked in the wood fired oven one minute and delivered to your table just a few moments later, crisp, lightly charred and bubbling.
Choose from toppings such as Dorset lamb and thyme-roasted sweet potato, and ask the team for their fave cider ‘n’ slice pairings – we love a West Country Porker chorizo slice with The Stable’s own fruity brew, Rapscallion.
Having landed in Exeter last September, the Stablehands enjoy the city’s finest rooftop terrace and are ready to welcome all cider supping, pizza loving Exeter folk into the fold.
