The Kingswood Bar & Restaurant

Sumptuous seafood and sensational steaks in the woods

If you go down to the woods today … you might just stumble upon The Kingswood Bar and Restaurant, tucked into the picturesque Pentewan Valley.

With a magical woodland backdrop and convenient roadside location, the recently revamped eatery combines indulgent dining and a relaxed atmosphere to create a must-visit in St Austell. The bistro-style restaurant is perfect for light lunches, romantic meals for two or family get togethers over a hearty Sunday roast.

Chef patron Tom Bradbury crafts a menu brimming with comforting favourites and international flavours. ‘The menu changes constantly as the food is influenced by the seasons and the very best local suppliers we’re lucky to have on our doorstep,’ enthuses Tom.

A focus on seafood and steaks means weary wanderers in the woods can look forward to dishes such as fragrant Malaysian fish curry, dressed Mevagissey crab and fresh from the Fowey mussels. On the steak front you’ll find a choice of aged sirloin, rib-eye and fillet fancies.

On warmer days, enjoy lunch or dinner alfresco on the decking and let the kids run loose in the roomy garden while you explore the wine list. In winter the chic lounge is the perfect spot to cosy up with a curious concoction from the cocktail menu.

Wednesday is steak and shellfish night at this social spot. Tuck into a flat iron with chips, salad and garlic butter or a steamed local mussels for just £12.

Insider’s tip

Add half a lobster to any steak for just £16. Voila, the ultimate surf ‘n’ turf.
