Groovy coffee space and restaurant in the stunning Mendip Hills
Slightly off the beaten track, but with possibly the best view in the South West, is the restaurant and cafe at Yeo Valley HQ.
At the foot of the Mendip Hills, it’s a delightful slice of urban cool in a countryside setting. You’d be forgiven for wondering why a company famous for its yoghurt and milk has a coffee shop, but then, Yeo Valley is not your run of the mill dairy – as a visit to its HQ testifies.
This groovy space was once just the staff canteen, but now Yeo Valley’s restaurant, Fodder, is open to the public. It’s modern and stylish with some lovely surprises in the form of tongue-in-cheek furnishings and decoration. A selection of photos providing “reasons to be cheerful” line the corridor that leads to the restaurant and you’ll spot different themed rooms on your visit – one’s Victorian-style, another’s an homage to the Beatles, and there are plenty of cow themed spaces too.
The coffee is expertly presented, using beans from Mozzo, and there’s a nice range of rustic, wholesome foodie options including a drop-dead gorgeous roast on Wednesdays.
