Chefs, sommeliers and bartenders across the South West are wising up to new pairing possibilities when it comes to occasion dining.
Gone are the days when a reliable Merlot was the only match for blushed beef, or a fillet of flaky cod was destined solely for a Chablis tablemate; as restaurateurs are now looking to the bar for inspiration.
It’s an innovative approach which the team at Dartmoor’s Wildflower Restaurant have adopted, giving diners the option to have each course expertly matched with an artisan spirit. Including a pre- and post-dinner cocktail, the pairings include locally crafted drinks as well as tropical spirits sourced from the world’s best distillers.
A five-strong line-up calls for an overnight visit and the restaurant’s location within the Moorland Garden Hotel fits the bill. After feasting on three courses crafted by head chef Jake Westlake, retreat to one of the contemporary rooms for an evening of restful slumber.
Intrigued to sample the Wildflower’s boozy bill before your friends? We’ve teamed up with the Devon restaurant to treat a lucky reader to a three course dinner for two, plus a room for the evening so you can make the most of the spirit pairing.
To be in with a chance of winning just answer the following question …
What is the name of the Wildflower Restaurant’s head chef?
