A divine Devon cheese board

The prize: Sharpham’s Essential Devon Cheese Board.
Sharpham

It’s hard to beat the feeling of sending a loved one a surprise delivery of something delicious – except, of course, receiving something particularly tasty yourself

The cheese-board-by-post concept just got even better thanks to the Essential Devon Cheese Board from Sharpham Cheese in south Devon. If you know someone with an interest in marvellously mature cheddar or gorgeously complex goat’s cheese, make sure you get this covetable consignment delivered to their door.

Thanks to its long farming heritage and lush green fields, Devon is arguably the cheese capital of the UK, and this seriously good selection is a collaboration between some of the county’s finest cheesemakers.

Sharpham Estate – also famous for its verdant vineyards – produces more than 60 tonnes of cheese a year using milk from its herd of Jersey cows, plus goat’s and ewe’s milk from neighbouring farms. Its Ticklemore Goat is utterly sublime melted in hot dishes, crumbled in salads or served simply with fresh figs and a glass of Sharpham’s Pinot Gris Wild Ferment.

The renowned mellow creaminess of Quicke’s Mature Cheddar, produced in Newton St Cyres, can be attributed to milk from grass-fed cows and a natural clothbound maturing process. The Essential Devon Cheese Board includes individually wrapped classics such as Sharpham Ticklemore Goat, Quicke’s Mature Cheddar and a Devon Blue, plus a Grader’s Choice from both Sharpham and Quicke’s, all with tasting notes.

We all know someone for whom this would be an appreciated gift, right? Or perhaps you’re the cheese geek? If so, do what any self-respecting turophile would do and enter our competition for a chance to win.
