The festive frills of a Cornish Christmas

A glittering array of experiences and dining treats await

Slide into the Christmas spirit in style this year by visiting the glamorous Penventon Park Hotel in Redruth

At Penventon Park, not only does luxurious four-star Cornish accommodation await, but a tasty and glittering array of experiences and food. While the hotel tempts the finest of foodies through its Georgian mansion doors every week of the year, at Christmastime the appeal skyrockets.

With evergreen garlands weaving through the sweeping staircases and twinkling fairy lights draped across Christmas trees, the festive mood at Penventon Park is always uplifting, and as guests head into The Dining Galleries, they’ll find delicious dining meets a curated world of art, offering a feast for the senses.

Against a backdrop of striking artwork – with pieces that speak to the natural beauty of Cornwall and take influences from around the world – guests can savour fine food while surrounded by handpicked art, with many of the pieces coming from a collection of one of Penventon’s original owners and artist David Pascoe.

As December arrives, the Dining Galleries Restaurant transforms into a festive haven, with twinkling lights and sparkling décor creating an inviting and irresistible festive warmth. The calendar dictates no other excuse is needed to book a feelgood festive meal for friends, family or colleagues, whether it’s lunch (served 12-4pm, two courses £28, three courses £32) or dinner (served 6-9.30pm, two courses £34, three courses £40).

Featuring an elegant take on Christmas dishes – all crafted using seasonal ingredients – the menu includes ham hock terrine with caramelised red onion chutney and a classic prawn cocktail, both of which pave the way for traditional mains such as roast turkey with crisp roasties and all the trimmings, honey-glazed ham or oven-baked salmon with hollandaise. End the meal with the indisputable classic, Penventon’s iconic Christmas pudding, otherwise yule log with luscious vanilla cream and a zesty clementine cheesecake are tempting alternatives.

And, if the busy Christmas schedule doesn’t allow time for lunch or dinner, take a break from the wrapping or shopping by partaking in the plush pleasure of festive afternoon tea (12-5pm), which includes a glass of mulled wine or cider for £25.
