The best places to eat, stay, shop and visit in the South West

About Food Lifestyle

The South West’s leading lifestyle magazine

We’ve published the South West’s go-to magazine revealing where to eat, shop, stay and visit for over two decades. In 2003, we launched the first local food magazine in the UK. It was called Food Magazine.

In spring 2024, this evolved into Food Lifestyle magazine. We made it chunkier, switched up the design, and went quarterly. 209 issues (and counting) later, it’s still the South West’s favourite freemium magazine for discerning folk in the region and beyond (lots of our digital readers and followers are, surprisingly, in London).

Food Magazine

Food Lifestyle is a coffee-table bookazine which reveals the most exceptional (and coolest) places to eat, drink, stay and shop in the South West each season. It covers dining experiences, interiors, gardens, spas, hotels, art, foraging, craft, clothing and quirky and interesting finds. More popular than ever, it has a dedicated tribe of subscribers and is also distributed through high-end stockists.

The magazine is edited by Jo Rees and written, designed, published and distributed by the Salt Media team. Flick through the digital version of the summer 2026 issue for a flavour of what the publication delivers to its readers.

You can subscribe to the print version of Food Lifestyle magazine to get the four seasonal issues delivered to your door. Stay up to date with the latest finds and new faves from Food Lifestyle by receiving the never-boring weekly email newsletter.

Since we launched in 2003, we’ve been banging the drum for independence and creativity. As we’ve grown, we’ve added to our portfolio projects such as the Indy Coffee Guides (which reveal the best speciality coffee shops across the UK), the Indy Cafe Cookbooks and the Trencherman’s Guide (the esteemed 34-year-old dining guide). They all share the values of supporting independent businesses and celebrating the good things in life done well.

We also make magazines, digital content, books and publications for other organisations we like and rate. See more of our work here.
