New restaurant at The Headland in Newquay reveals panoramic views and an unpretentious approach

There’s no better side to a sumptuous seafood feast than sweeping views of the waters from which the produce was plucked. And visitors to The Headland’s new restaurant, RenMor (‘restaurant by the sea’ in Cornish), will be treated to stunning vistas of the Atlantic – as well as the chefs working their magic in the open kitchen – thanks to a new multi-million-pound refurb.

RenMor replaces the The Samphire restaurant as part of an ongoing refurbishment programme at the five-star hotel, which has also included a £10 million state-of-the-art spa. The restaurant, captained by head chef Fred Goodrich, is open to both residents and non-residents and focuses on seasonal menus crafted from local produce.

‘At RenMor, I’m trying to create something that can stand up to the best restaurants in Cornwall, offering fantastic flavours in a calm, light and breezy setting. Produce is always the hero and the aim is enjoyment. We’re delivering exceptional quality and an unpretentious approach,’ says Fred.

The Headland’s director Veryan Palmer told Food: “It’s taken an incredible amount of vision, planning and execution to deliver a world-class restaurant and it’s testament to everyone involved in the renovation that we can now welcome diners for a fantastic new experience.

The striking interiors are warm and timeless and there is attention to detail wherever you look. It’s a restaurant in which luxury is for everyone – dress up or dress down but, most of all, take your time. It’s all part of the journey.
