Thunderflower Distillery in Devon scoops prestigious accolade for its English Orchard gin at the World Gin Awards 2024
Many G&Ts have been raised to micro-distillery Thunderflower in Teignmouth after the distillery received the prestigious Gold & Best English Signature Botanical award for its English Orchard gin at the World Gin Awards 2024.
At an industry event in London on January 18, distilleries from across the world were recognised in a range of categories, with over 500 presented with bronze, silver and gold medals. In addition to the medalist announcements, Country Winners were revealed at the awards, which included Thunderflower’s English Orchard. As a Country Winner, English Orchard will go head-to-head with gins from other countries at a ceremony on February 22 as they compete for the title of World’s Best Gin.
‘We are absolutely thrilled to win the Gold & Best English Signature Botanical award for English Orchard. What an incredible start to 2024,’ says founder and managing director Anicca O’Nions.
To create the award-winning gin, crisp English apples and a blend of warming spices are distilled with citrus and carefully chosen botanicals. Following distillation, the botanical flavours are extracted through a delicate vapour infusion in a one-shot distillation run, with the extra addition of pure Dartmoor spring water to dilute the final spirit. The resulting pour offers sweet mulled apple flavours and a juniper-rich finish.
