Whether you’re looking for a boozy birthday brunch or an epic breakfast to kick off a day of sightseeing and shopping, you’ll find the perfect venue in our pick of brunch spots in Bath

The Green Rocket

Plant-based foodies can get their brunch kicks at this award-winning cafe and restaurant in the centre of Bath.

Sourcing seasonal ingredients from local independent producers, The Green Rocket team make all of their vegan dishes from scratch. Early brunch-goers have plenty to choose from on the breakfast menu, including house faves such as the monster veggie brekky, mashed avocado and bloody mary salsa on sourdough, and homemade granola with yogurt.

8e Chelsea Road

With its independent shops and laid-back vibe, Chelsea Road on the outskirts of the city is every bit as chic as it sounds. Tucked away at the top of the street is 8e, a popular brunch spot serving speciality coffee (check out our roundup of Bath coffee shops here), quality produce, wine and craft beers.

You can sit inside, where there is plenty of space to kick back with an expertly prepared flat white, or lounge outside under the blue awning to people-watch while tucking into scrambled eggs and hot-smoked salmon. Don’t miss the Sunday skillet-pan brunches which feature fried eggs, crisp bacon, homemade beans, kale, black pudding and artisan sourdough.

Rooted

Just down the hill from 8e (on the corner of Chelsea Road and Newbridge Road) is Rooted, a cosy vegetarian and vegan venue with a covered outside space for all-weather alfresco brunching.

For a flavour-forward brunch, choose from globally inspired dishes such as bubble and squeak, chilli feta smash, wild mushrooms on toast and the Rooted muffin. If you’re looking to power a packed day of sightseeing in Bath, go all out with the full Indian breakfast of grilled paratha, dal, fried eggs, mango lime achar, coconut yogurt and patcha chutney paired with a house mango lassi.

Tempted to an alcoholic chaser for your coffee? All of Rooted’s beers, ciders and wines are vegan.

Boston Tea Party – Alfred Street

This South West mini-chain is big on sustainability (its reusable cup scheme has saved more than 800,000 single-use cups from going to landfill), so tucking into brunch in its Alfred Street venue is a no-brainer for the eco-conscious consumer.

Located opposite the Assembly Rooms, this Boston Tea Party outpost is handy for the trendy Bartlett Street shops should you fancy a wander after a brunch of sweetcorn hash, smashed peas on toast or sky-high American pancakes.

The ethically driven company sources a lot of its ingredients from West Country suppliers, while its speciality coffee beans are roasted in Bristol by the pros at Extract Coffee Roasters.

Wild Cafe

Those who spend the night at the Wild Cafe guesthouse in the heart of the city only have to wander next door to find a next-level brunch.

‘West is best’ is the house motto at the Queen Street cafe, so dishes such as oak-smoked fresh kippers, faggots benedict, and bubble and squeak are crafted from locally sourced ingredients.

The team are also wild about the environment: the business runs on 100 per cent renewable energy and has ambitions to produce the first zero-carbon eggs benedict – watch this space.
