Calling all food and drink producers and establishments: entries are open for the Food Drink Devon Awards 2023
All food and drink producers, hospitality and catering businesses, and speciality retailers in Devon are eligible to enter the annual awards that celebrate the county’s leading artisans, producers, chefs and small-business owners. Entries close on April 17 and both Food Drink Devon members and non-members can throw their hat into the ring.
There are three main categories for this year’s awards: the Producer Awards comprising accolades such as Food Product of the Year and Best New Product of the Year, the Retail Awards including gongs like Best Retailer and Best Online Retailer, and the Hospitality Awards featuring sought-after titles such as Chef of the Year and Best Restaurant. There is also a Sustainability Pioneer Award.
Judging for the awards will be carried out by a panel of independent and unbiased experts. The results and winners will then be verified by an independent adjudicator, with feedback from the panel provided. Entrants will have the opportunity to win a silver, gold or platinum award, with silver indicating a score of 85-89 per cent, gold reflecting a 90-99 per cent, and the coveted platinum award representing a perfect score of 100 per cent. A shortlist will be revealed in August and the winners will be unveiled at an awards ceremony in October.
Greg Parsons, chair of Food Drink Devon, says: ‘Our annual awards have gone from strength to strength over the past 11 years, with their success a testament to the region’s passion for creating outstanding food and drink.
‘Devon boasts a great deal of dynamic and innovative producers and purveyors, and hosting the Food Drink Devon Awards gives us the opportunity to recognise their success and contributions to the vibrant food and drink industry. Year after year, we continue to be impressed by the breadth and standard of entries we receive.’
