The best places to eat, stay, shop and visit in the South West

New eco farm shop opens in Somerset

New foodie destination alert: Teals, a sustainable food store and kitchen, has opened near Yeovil

Teals, Somerset

Despite the trials and tribulations of launching a new venture in the midst of a global pandemic, Ash and Nick Sinfield finally opened the doors to Teals (a new eco food store and kitchen in South Cadbury) on December 8 – just in time for Christmas.

Nick said: ‘Covid-19 threw a complete curveball at us, which makes our opening all the more euphoric. We suffered all sorts of subcontractor closures and supply chains under distress, and completely missed our summer opening. But they say good businesses open in recessions. As we throw open our doors, we’re excited to put that theory to the test.’

The resilient team behind the independent farm store champion indie producers from across the South West and stock their shelves with small-batch, artisan goodies which are made in line with Teals’ eco-friendly ethos.

Shoppers can get their hands on local produce which is near impossible to come by in supermarkets, such as gluten-free turmeric, banana granola and speciality-grade coffee beans.

In addition to the farm shop, the foodie destination features a market (with a butchers, bakery, cheese counter, deli and drinks section), a lifestyle and gift shop, and a kitchen serving delicious food and drink.
