Discover which talented chefs from the region are battling it out on Great British Menu this year
Cooking competition Great British Menu returned for its 21st series on February 24 with the theme of ‘celebrating the British film industry’. From April 14, top chefs from across the South West will take to the pass to represent the region, showcasing blockbuster-inspired dishes.
So, who are the chefs competing on Great British Menu 2026?
Martin Baylis of New Coast Kitchen and Restaurant Roku, north Devon
Located in the surfy village of Croyde, Martin’s duo of restaurants provide holidaymakers and fortunate locals with refined dishes in smart settings. Inspired by his Japanese heritage and the region’s excellent produce, Martin crafts creative tasting menus at Roku that encourage slow, thought-provoking dining.
Mark Tuttiett of Da Terra, London
Clevedon-born Mark is head chef at the two-Michelin-starred restaurant Da Terra in Bethnal Green. The chef also sharpened his culinary skills at the celebrated restaurant Kitchen Table, as well as Carousel, The Typing Room and Alain Ducasse.
Jeffrey Robinson (pictured top) of Harbour View House, St Ives
Known for his nose-to-tail and ingredient-led ethos of cooking, Jeffrey honed his culinary style at restaurants across the county, including The Atlantic Hotel and The Loft Restaurant and Terrace. However, it was at The New Yard at Trelowarren Estate where Jeffrey earned a green Michelin star and multiple rosettes. Now, Jeffrey is exec chef at the beautiful Harbour View House in St Ives, while also running St Ives Cookery School at Primrose House.
Ciaran Brennan, Osip, Bruton
The head chef of Bruton’s lauded restaurant, Osip, shapes his menus around hyper-local ingredients from quality producers. He kickstarted his career working with Osip owner Merlin Labron-Johnson at Portland in London, before moving to Australia and developing a passion for cooking over fire. In 2019, Ciaran returned to the UK to help launch Osip as sous chef, before being promoted to head chef in 2021.
