Taste East Devon, a new food and drink festival backed by local culinary legends Michael Caines MBE and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, will host nine days of delicious events this September
Renowned chefs, producers, venues, and restaurants have collaborated to host a nine-day food and drink festival across east Devon from September 11-19. Taste East Devon will celebrate the fantastic local food and drink scene with 30 unique events, which range from field-to-fork farm feasts and seafood tasting experiences to vineyard tours and gin making.
Industry figures Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Michael Caines will be participating in the festivities, and festivalgoers can look forward to foodie experiences at local venues such as Darts Farm, THE PIG-at Combe, River Cottage, Deer Park Country House, Mazzard Farm, Otter Brewery, Lympstone Manor and The Donkey Sanctuary.
Restaurants taking part will create special menus and experiences specifically for the event, such as the seafood feast at The Salutation Inn in Topsham and a cocktails and canapes evening at The Jack in the Green near Exeter. More hands-on food and drink experiences include the likes of gin distilling and wheat milling at Otterton Mill, kitchen garden tutorials at THE PIG-at Combe and cooking demos at Devon Cookery School.
Nine days of gluttonous revelry will culminate in a summer party at THE PIG-at Combe. Guests can look forward to live music, food masterclasses, gardening pop-ups and, of course, plenty of opportunities to chow down on incredible edibles.
Michael Caines , chef patron of Lympstone Manor, said: ‘We needed to have something in the calendar that said we are going to celebrate this wonderful region. Our own identity is shaped by the places and the people who live here – so come and be a part of it.’
