Decorated chefs Rick Stein, Mitch Tonks and Mark Hix are teaming up for an exclusive gourmet getaway in Portugal this autumn
There’s nothing that excites foodies quite like a starry chef collab, and this powerhouse partnership between South West chefs Rick Stein, Mitch Tonks and Mark Hix has captured the attention of gourmets across the UK.
The trio will join forces on November 27-29 to co-host Tonnix on Tour – a wine-matched dinner at the winery Quinta de La Rosa in the Douro Valley. The event is named after Tonnix, a wine brand that Mark Hix and Mitch Tonks collaborated on 14 years ago after visiting Quinta de La Rosa and meeting with owner and sixth-generation port and winemaker Sophia Bergqvist.
Although the event has already sold out (tickets went within hours of release), interested foodies can sign up to the waitlist. Those lucky enough to have secured tickets can look forward to a packed itinerary including: two nights’ bed and breakfast in the Douro Valley, a winery tour and tasting with Sophia, a traditional Portuguese meal with wine and fado music and, of course, the collaboration dinner.
Rick, Mark and Mitch will each create a dish for the four-course meal (they will also collaborate on one course), choose the wine pairings for each dish and mingle with guests throughout the evening.
