Rick Stein restaurants team up with Cornish roastery Origin to bring speciality coffee to Padstow
Padstow will be home to yet another exceptional foodie find when, on April 7, Rick Stein Coffee Shop opens. The joint venture between the town’s stellar restaurant group and Cornwall’s original speciality roastery, Origin Coffee, will bring some of the world’s best beans to the popular staycation destination – just in time for the spring/summer season.
Located in the former Rick Stein Patisserie, the space has been completely revamped by Jill and Ed Stein who, through pared-back design, have brought a little slice of LA to Cornwall. A stunning handmade bar, exposed brick walls and windowfront benches nod to the west coast coffee scene while also reflecting the vibe of the chic harbour village.
Masterminded by Charlie Stein (director of drinks across Rick Stein restaurants), the contemporary coffee shop will serve a simple menu of single-origin coffees which have been ethically sourced and expertly roasted by Origin at its new HQ in Porthleven. The food menu will focus on all-day favourites and will be supplemented by the likes of Da Bara Bakery’s Cornwall-famous cinnamon buns and luxe soft-serve ice cream from Happy Endings.
‘Tom and his team at Origin have been the perfect partner for our new venture,’ said Charlie.
‘We’ve worked together for over 15 years already, and I’ve always been impressed with their unrivalled knowledge of and enthusiasm for great quality coffee. I’m extremely proud to be opening our first speciality coffee shop in Padstow and to be working with such excellent Cornish businesses.’
