Fancy dining at The Pig-near Bath and revamping your home bar? This bumper prize pairs standout seasonal cooking with expertly crafted Nc’nean whisky
Nc’nean is a whisky distillery with a special story. In 2013, Annabel Thomas embarked on a project to create a new kind of whisky: something delicious that champions sustainability and accessibility while never shying away from experimentation. As a female-led company, the name Nc’nean feels especially fitting – an abbreviation of Neachneohain, the ancient Gaelic goddess known as the Queen of Spirits.
In line with such a powerful name, the distillery was built from the ground up on Scotland’s wild west coast. By 2017, its first organic whisky was distilled – in harmony with the land, rather than at its expense. Bottled in 2020, the debut release showcased an unpeated, elegant and fruity organic single malt Scotch, crafted to be delicious from the outset (even before time in cask) and packaged in 100 per cent recycled glass bottles.
As a B Corp-certified company, the Nc’nean range – now spanning four whiskies and a botanical spirit – is defined by care and creativity. With innovation at its core, the brand invites drinkers to enjoy these premium spirits in cocktails as well as on their own. These forward-thinking bottles are now finding their way into like-minded bars, shops and hospitality spots across the South West, including The Pig-near Bath.
