2021 lust list: Lympstone Manor shepherd hut

Want to know what’s number one on our lust list for 2021? A stay in one of Lympstone Manor’s new super swanky shepherd huts

Lympstone Manor Shepherd Huts

Forget any associations with the rusty wheels and corrugated roofs of draughty lambing sheds  – or even David Cameron holed up in his hut while writing his now-long-forgotten memoirs – Michael Caines’ version at his luxe Exmouth boutique hotel is entirely next level.

Each hut at Lympstone Manor has a private decking area with outside seating so guests can do social isolation in style and immerse themselves in the beauty of the tranquil setting. Otter Holt, Hare’s Rest and Hedgehog Row have outdoor bathtubs, while Beehive and Fox Den boast free-standing bathtubs indoors and wood-fired Hikki hot tubs outdoors.

Hare’s Rest and Otter Holt, both positioned around a newly formed pond, offer sweeping views across the vines and are ideally situated to take in the sunrise, while Foxden, Beehive and Hedgehog Row offer vistas across the Estuary and vineyard and are ideally placed to make the most of sunset.

Tardis-like, each hut also contains a kitchenette, lounge area and king-size bed, while additional sleeping areas – engineered to disappear into the fabric of the hut – mean a cabin will sleep between 4-5 guests, both adults and children.

Sound appealing? Prices start at £409 per night based on double occupancy and inclusive of a breakfast hamper delivered each morning, crammed with all the continental delights with cooked breakfast available in the main restaurant. And, as the huts are simply an extension of Lympstone Manor, guests can lunch or dinner in the top-notch restaurant or hang out in the luscious bar. Oh, and there’s a new onsite tennis court too.
