Beckford Group to open first hotel

Teffont House by The Beckford Group

The collective behind a string of top Somerset dining pubs has acquired the former Howard’s House Hotel in Wiltshire

Known for its duo of restaurants in Bath and collection of smart dining pubs with rooms across Somerset and Wiltshire, the Beckford Group will open its first hotel, Teffont House, this autumn. Beckford founders Dan Brod, Charlie Luxton and Matt Greenlees recently acquired the former Howard’s House Hotel in Teffont Evias, Wiltshire, and plan to refresh the 17th-century building’s orangery dining room and 16 en-suite bedrooms.

With a walled kitchen garden on-site, the restaurant at Teffont House will no doubt follow in the footsteps of Beckford’s other venues and focus on simple, seasonal cooking that makes the most of local produce. There are also plans to introduce a garden spa, which will use products from sister brand Bramley.

The announcement follows the January 2023 opening of The Beckford Canteen, a light and airy contemporary restaurant in the heart of Bath, and The Beckford Bottle Shop being crowned Best Restaurant at the Food Reader Awards 2022 in June.
