New beer and comedy festival to pop up in Cornwall

Lou at Driftwood Spars

The weekend of comedy, live music and craft beer will take place at one of the UK’s smallest breweries this March

Shake off the last vestiges of winter at The Driftwood Spars’ Barrel of Laughs Beer Festival on March 10-12. The Cornish pub and microbrewery in St Agnes will welcome a raft of comedians and musicians, who’ll entertain the crowds as they imbibe a selection of craft beers sourced from microbreweries stretching from Bermondsey to Manchester.

Headlining the comedy stage is Britain’s Got Talent and Live at the Apollo alumnus Jack Carroll, who will perform on both the Friday and Saturday and be supported by local acts. Toes will be kept tapping with music from rock and blues cover band blueStealers, comedy rap duo Hedluv + Passman, and rock band True Collison. There’s also an open-mic night on Sunday evening.

The festival coincides with the launch of The Driftwood Spars’ new beer, Sea Shanty – the first new addition to the microbrewery’s core range in over five years.

‘The light pale ale with subtle tropical notes is the perfect session ale for spring – and what better excuse for a session than a pint-sized festival of music and comedy on the Cornish coast,’ said The Driftwood Spars’ owner Louise Treseder.

Rugby fans will also be relieved to hear that the pub will be showing the latest live action from the Six Nations. The kitchen will be open daily serving Driftwood favourites such as the Philip Warren beef burger, Cornish sirloin steak, and mussels mariniere.

Entry to the festival is free across the weekend, but with some ticketed events. For more information and details of the line-up visit The Driftwood Spars website.
