Even though restaurants remain closed, Trencherman’s Guide plans to show chefs, restaurateurs and front-of-house teams how much they’re appreciated by taking its prestigious awards online
The Trencherman’s Awards are renowned in the South West as the best hospitality bash of the year, thanks to multi-course menus cooked by award winning chefs, and astonishing wine pairings.
While an awards ceremony is currently impossible, the South West’s leading dining guide is going off-piste by taking the awards online. Trencherman’s Guide editor Jo Rees said:
‘Restaurants are having such a tough time right now, so taking the awards online gives people the chance to show restaurants how much they appreciate them and to encourage them to hang on in there.
‘Trencherman’s restaurants are some of the very best in the South West and play a hugely important part in our regional food culture by supporting local farmers and fishermen, providing professional jobs in hospitality and creating life-affirming experiences for us all.’
Anyone who’d like to say ‘thank you’ for the good times they’ve had at a particular restaurant or who wants to give a chef or front-of-house team recognition can do so by voting in the awards. This year, there’s a new category to recognise the establishments that have provided excellent gourmet takeaway services in lockdown.
‘We’re also asking people to tell us why they’ve chosen their favourites so we can share the positive comments with the restaurants on social media,’ said Jo. ‘It’ll give them a boost at this challenging time.’
