Need some fresh recipe inspiration? Time & Tide, the latest book by chef and author Emily Scott, is crammed with coastal culinary delights
Emily Scott is famed for her effortlessly stylish dishes showcasing seasonal ingredients. To get a taste of the multi-award-winning chef’s flare for flavour, subscribe to the spring issue of Food Lifestyle which features a couple of her favourite recipes from Time & Tide: barbecued butterflied leg of lamb with lemon, garlic and thyme; and blue cheese, spring onion, leek, crème fraiche and thyme tart.
Emily moved to Cornwall in her early 20s and went on to run several highly successful restaurants alongside other high-profile and prestigious appointments. She cooked for royalty and world leaders at the G7 Summit at the Eden Project in 2021 and has made appearances on Great British Menu, Saturday Kitchen and Rick Stein’s Cornwall. Emily’s latest adventure sees her taking up the role of executive chef consultant at the Calypso Grill in the Cayman Islands, extending her coastal cooking creds from Cornwall to the Caribbean.
Closer to home in Cornwall, her book Time & Tide: Recipes and Stories from my Coastal Kitchen brings together the things that have inspired Emily’s cooking over the years – from the salt‑scented Cornish air to the textures of the plants that crowd the county’s coast path. It’s Emily Scott’s second book, following her 2021 debut cookbook Sea & Shore: Recipes and Stories from a Kitchen in Cornwall. The cookbook is published by Hardie Grant (RRP £28) and is available in print and Kindle editions via geni.us/timeandtide.
