Planning to spoil your special someone this year? These gourmet Valentine’s getaways are guaranteed to earn you serious brownie points

Housel Bay, Cornwall

If your idea of a dream Valentine’s getaway includes escaping the crowds and spending quality time together surrounded by nature then a romantic break at Housel Bay on Cornwall’s Lizard Peninsula could be just the ticket.

Perched on a cliff overlooking the wild Atlantic, the foodie hotel is ideal for those who want to embrace the great outdoors. The South West Coast Path passes the hotel grounds and whether you chose to venture left or right from the garden gate you’ll be spoilt for stunning views of the coastline. There’s even a secret cove just a few steps from the front door for those bold enough to brave the winter waters.

Housel’s two-night Valentine’s break is available from February 10-19 and includes breakfast each morning plus a complementary Valentine’s cocktail. Use code ‘LOVE’ to get 50 per cent off the second night of your stay. Read our review of Housel Bay here.

No. 15 Bath

For couples hoping for some time to unwind as well as to reconnect, No. 15 Bath’s Loved Up Valentine’s Escape offers the perfect romantic break. A glass of fizz from a bottle of Bolney Bubbly English wine in the room on arrival will help you lean into relaxation mode before enjoying a 90-minute spa ritual in the gorgeous Copper Room. The rest of the afternoon can be spent exploring romantic Bath or chilling in the beautifully dressed bedrooms.

The package includes a five-course tasting menu at The Restaurant. Stop in at The Bar for a complimentary round of cocktails before indulging in dishes such as Bath Gin-cured salmon with hot smoked salmon rillettes and soda bread, and Stokes Marsh Farm fillet of beef with pommes anna, wild mushrooms and madeira sauce.

The Love Up Valentine’s (and Palentine’s) Escapes are available from February 10-19.

The Idle Rocks, Cornwall

One-night escapes can feel like they’re over before they’ve even begun, which is why the team at The Idle Rocks in St Mawes have devised an extended break for Valentine’s Day 2023.

The two-night romantic experience starts in style with a bottle of Champagne in the room, as well as sweet treats from the chef. Dinner on the first night is a casual three-course affair at sister venue St Mawes Hotel, located just across the harbour. On the second night you’ll be in the capable hands of The Idle Rocks’ executive chef Dorian Janmaat, who’ll prepare a signature seven-course tasting menu featuring the finest local ingredients sourced from land and sea.

Days can be spent exploring the picturesque seaside village or crossing the estuary to discover the delights of Falmouth.

Rooms start from £822.
